Muuto is rooted in the Scandinavian design tradition, which is characterised by enduring aesthetics, functionality, craftsmanship and honest expression.

By expanding this heritage with forward-looking materials, techniques and bold creative thinking, Muuto aims to offer new perspectives on Scandinavian design.

"We believe the path to success for modern Scandinavian design lies in a firm belief in the best up-and-coming designers. We give designers the freedom and inspiration to create new designs, and one of our main goals at Muuto is to be at the forefront of developing designers", says Peter Bonnén.

Muuto's two founders, Peter Bonnén and Kristian Byrge, are highly ambitious and set out to establish their products in renowned design shops around the world. The first product collections, mostly designed by well-known designers such as Norway Says, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Harri Koskinen and Louise Campbell, were intended to help them achieve this.

Muuto is firmly rooted in the Scandinavian design tradition, which is why the designers it selects all come from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Muuto gives them the freedom they need to realise their own design philosophies, resulting in exceptional everyday objects.

"All this gives Muuto designs their tremendous diversity and a character closely linked to the Nordic heritage – a heritage Muuto is proud of and which all the designers carry with them as a kind of travel luggage", says Kristian Byrge.
